New systems, new technologies - INTRAVIS impresses at NPE

Even if the NPE is over, INTRAVIS will leave a long lasting impression. Especially the world premiere of the preform inspection system PreWatcher® 4 caused quite a stir. Two new systems for the US market and technology for the future of Industry 4.0 also thrilled the visitors.

INTRAVIS GmbH introduced its new preform inspection system, the PreWatcher® 4, for the first time at NPE 2018 in Orlando, FL, astonishing many visitors. For a long time it had been expected that the supplier of inspection solutions for the plastic packaging industry would present an addition to its preform product range. In contrast to the PreWatcher® III, which is ideally suited for online operation, the PreWatcher® 4's main strengths are offline. Markus Juppe, CMO of INTRAVIS GmbH, comments: "Our customers can continue to receive both systems from us. And both systems can be used inline and offline. What makes the PreWatcher® 4 the ideal offline system, however, is its short set-up time thanks to the new adjustment concept, the various possibilities for targeted ejection and its test performance of up to 100,000 objects per hour. "In fact, the PreWatcher® 4 can adjust to a new Preform within a few minutes as it is able to adapt without change parts. And the use of two ejector units offers the possibility, for example, of putting together return patterns and white lists.

Inline also offers the PreWatcher® 4 a number of advantages, from a floor space of 3 m² to the possibility of orderly output of the preforms for direct further processing. Special highlight: Opaque, strongly colored and transparent preforms can be tested with the same system.

The customers were enthusiastic about the new system. Large groups gathered for the demonstrations and marveled at the engineering of the Aacheners. In addition, INTRAVIS was already able to announce several sales deals for the PreWatcher® 4 during the show.

Further news: SpotWatcher® S and IntraOne! ®

However, the preform inspection system was not the only new system for trade show visitors. With the SpotWatcher® S INTRAVIS presented its new, compact bottle testing system, which was designed especially for the producers of pharmaceutical packaging. On a floor space of less than 1 m², it takes control of bottles for various defects. In addition, the validatable IntraVision software also helps users easily meet demanding regulations.

Another novelty the visitors got to see: the IntraOne! ®. This compact single-camera system is used for a variety of inspection tasks - closures, preforms, bottles and containers or even labels and decorations. It combines the features of a smart camera solution, such as a compact design and fast integration in production lines, with the proven IntraVision software. The software guarantees that reproducible measurement results are achieved independently from the operator of the test system. This means: A time-consuming learning phase and the need for vision experts in the company are a thing of the past.

CapWatcher® Print as Industry 4.0 application at the NPE

At two partner booths, ENGEL and Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, INTRAVIS was represented with a CapWatcher® Print. The system is used for quality control of beverage closures and checks for quality features such as dimensional accuracy, completeness and visual perfection. All this happens at an hourly throughput of up to 252,000 closures.

Especially with the system at Sumitomo (SHI) Demag: Together with the IntraVisualizer, the INTRAVIS’ analysis software, the system was used in an Industrie 4.0 environment. Depending on the purpose, the IntraVisualizer aggregates the data of one or several INTRAVIS test systems for information and trends. Trends can be used to determine when defined product parameters are approaching a limit and when they break through. This information is transferred to a command post or, as in the case of Industrie 4.0, to the IMM user interface. A trained operator can then see, directly on the line, which criteria cause the ejection and initiate appropriate countermeasures. Due to the continuous trend analysis of the IntraVisualizer he receives immediate feedback on the results of his actions. The software therefor helps to produce faster, within the specified limits and to minimize the ejection and the waste of energy and material.

At the partner booth ENGEL, INTRAVIS showed that since last year, INTRAVIS stands for more than just vision inspection systems. In addition to the CapWatcher® Print, there also was a cooling conveyor and a cross conveyor from our own production in operation. As a result, the company now offers even more downstream equipment, which makes integration even easier.

"Successful show"

And what’s the conclusion of the show? "Very positive," according to Dr. Gerd Fuhrmann, CEO of INTRAVIS GmbH. "The NPE was a very successful show for us. I am particularly pleased that all visitors have said that the new systems optimally meet their need for future-proof solutions. This is a confirmation of our work, but also the drive for the future. Because we want to continue to solve problems. Before they occur."
